Hi
So there is this sentence:
"Ты открыл мне глаза" - Why is the dative case being used (мне), if "мне глаза" is the direct object of the sentence?
Is this sentence even correct at all?
Shouldn't it be "Ты отркыл мои глаза"? In the accusative?
Thanks !
Why is the dative case being used in this sentence?

hi,
yes, this sentence is absolutely correct. there's such an expression in Russian "открывать КОМУ-ЛИБО глаза на что-либо/кого-либо" which means to show something (someone) in its (his/her) true colours
