I understand that the accusative case is used for direct objects. For example, "I am watching a movie," in which "movie" is the direct object. In Russian, it would be "я вижу фильм" (I think), and in this case "фильм" is the direct object.
I don't understand the difference between "я вижу моя книгу" and "я вижы мою книгу." Both say "I see my book," but the second one has "моя" in the accusative, which is "мою." Could somebody please explain to me what the difference is and when I should use the accusative case for possessive pronouns?
Possessive pronouns and accusative case
Re: Possessive pronouns and accusative case
"я вижу фильм" is wrong. "я смотрю фильм".
"я вижу мою (or "свою") книгу" - the only option for accusative case. "Моя книга" - for nominative case (eg: "я вижу, что это моя книга"). Сombination "Моя книгу" is wrong.

Re: Possessive pronouns and accusative case
Cases are used not only for nouns but for all words in noun group (possessive pronoun + adjective + noun), e.g.
Nominative: "Это моя любимая книга" (This is my favourite book)
Genitive: "Последняя страница моей любимой книги" (The last page of my favourite book)
Accusative: "Я читал мою любимую книгу" (I was reading my favourite book )
Nominative: "Это моя любимая книга" (This is my favourite book)
Genitive: "Последняя страница моей любимой книги" (The last page of my favourite book)
Accusative: "Я читал мою любимую книгу" (I was reading my favourite book )

Re: Possessive pronouns and accusative case
It is careful attention to point out there are 2 issues which this student has included
1. The choosing of the correct word for "seeing" and "watching" a movie or a book.
2. The change of pronoun endings plus adjective endings into the correct case of the noun's case.
So it took 2 replies to satisfy the students problem, ven thy he/she expressed only 1 .
