Do you need to go to the bathroom?

We are going to be hosting a Russian-speaking child and I am trying to prepare a list of useful phrases. Many of the phrases from the adoptive parent section are helpful. However, I wonder if the phrases for "Do you want to pee/poo?" (Хо́чешь пи́сать / ка́кать?) are appropriate for an older child. What would be an appropriate way to ask a teenager or adult if they needed to use a restroom?

Более правильно в самом начале ознакомления с домом показать где находятся помещения типа ванны и туалета.
Спрашивать подростка хочет ли он в туалет или нет, не принято. :)

In general, I wouldn't ask, but I can think of situations where it might be appropriate. For example, after we meet at the airport but before leaving the airport for a two-hour drive home.

It is now clear. Then, just warn about the duration of the trip. In any case, you'll pass through establishments such as McDonald's :)

It seems that you are saying that for politeness, someone should not mention using the bathroom to an adult. However, the child we will be hosting is actually 10 years old. In my experience as a mother and a teacher, 10-year-old children sometimes need a reminder to go to the bathroom. Could you give me a phrase for "Would you like to use the toilet?"

If you are preparing for a long way, you can say: Мы будем ехать долго, пойдешь в туалет? (Mi budem echat dolgo, poidesh v tualet?)
