the origin of Russian tea drinking

Postby Leam_nor » May 13th, 15, 22:28

Привет всем!

This time my question is about tea :) I've read that Russians love drinking tea. There is even a word for that: чаепитие. What is the origin of this tradition? I guess that in the ancient Russia there was no tea import, so what other drink was popular back then?

I've tried searching for this information in Russian, but my knowledge of the language is not good enough to read the whole article, too complicated. :/

Спасибо!
