short adjectives

Hi everyone!

I've read that in Russian there are long and short adjectives but I don't really understand how to use the short ones. Can they be declined like long adjectives?

Thanks!

prepositions "о" / "про"

Hi!

I've noticed that in Russian there are two prepositions to say "about": о and про (о жизни / про жизнь). Is there any difference between them apart from the case?

Thanks a lot!

endings ый / ий of adjectives

Привет! I have a question about the endings of adjectives. I know that in Russian there are 4 main spelling rules and according to one of them you can't write ы after к, г, х, ж, ш, ч, щ That's why you have to say русский and not русскый etc. But what about words like последний, why do they finish w...

what is награждён?

Hello!

I have this doubt and I hope someone could help me. I have this phrase:
Он был награждён медалью.

Is награждён a verb, or is it something else? What's the relation with the word награда?

Thanks a lot!

Russian police

Здравствуйте!
When reading the news in Russian I've noticed that now the police is called полиция and not милиция like before. Do you know when the name was changed and why?
До свидания! Спасибо за ответ!
