Re: ¿cómo se dice berenjena en ruso?

Qué interesante. ¿Tiene la palabra "синенькие" algo que ver con el color синий? Porque las berenjenas son más o menos de color azul, así que a lo mejor existe una relación entre esas dos palabras. ¿O es solo una coincidencia? Si, berenjena se llaman 'синенькие' por que ellos tienen este c...

Re: How to say economical in Russian

So... if I have a car that consumes very little petrol (compared to other cars) I can say "У меня есть очень экономная машина", right? No, the second part of the post was about the word 'экономичный'. You can say 'У меня очень экономичная машина'. 'Экономный' is only about person. Thanks ...

Re: ¿cómo se dice berenjena en ruso?

Es una palabra regional. Por ejemplo, no comprendo que 'синенькие' son 'баклажаны'. Qué interesante. ¿Tiene la palabra "синенькие" algo que ver con el color синий? Porque las berenjenas son más o menos de color azul, así que a lo mejor existe una relación entre esas dos palabras. ¿O es so...

Re: How to say economical in Russian

Use 'экономный' only while referring to people who tend to save money. 'Экономичный' is rarely used word and I advice not to use it at all but it's referrering to something(device, not person) that consume not many resources or help to save them. So... if I have a car that consumes very little petr...

Re: Golden vodka

Hi there! Maybe you mean vodka with honey? I'm really an expert, but I've seen bottle of vodka and honey (or maybe it was vodka made out of honey) which had a yellowish colour. Maybe you mean that? Or maybe there's really vodka with small bits of gold to make the liquid somehow glitter and shine? If...

Re: Genitive plural of "человек"

As for your question, yes, the genitive plural of 'человек' is 'людей'. However, after a quantifier which doesn't express a specific number 'людей' is used a bit more commonly: '(несколько/мало/много/немного) людей' is a bit preferable than '(несколько/мало/много/немного) человек'. After a specific...

Instrumental case with быть and являться in the past tense

Hello Russian language lovers :) I made a question about the difference between быть and являться and part of the answer (written by the great forum user Taras) was the following: In the past tense and in the future tense 'to be' can be expressed with 'быть' and 'являться'. In this case 'являться' i...
