Both the verb and the objective follow the gender of the person.

btw:
1) misprinted 'щ' instead of 'ш' in "хороший/хорошая"

города -- genitive of город.

Compare with:

One mistake -- "новости". This noun is in plural form. Single is "новость", and it's fem.

пропасть -- verb (to lose) or noun (chasm) -- no matter, the first "п" (and the second) sounds by joining lips.
