Postby andriyana » Oct 12th, 14, 19:45

hello :D
do you guys know onomatopeia in Russian?
onomatopeia is the formation of a word, as cuckoo, meow, honk, or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent.
for example: Хо-хо-хо-хо! (sounds of laugh in Russian), мяу-мяу (sound of cat) etc.

in this year in my collage, we have to write thesis and i have decided that i will write thesis about onomatopeia in Russian :) . but i have some problems. i can find the source to get examples of onomatopeia in Russian, but the problem is the theory of onomatopeia in Russian is little. :?
perhaps, does anyone know some links or books that talking about onomatopeia in Russian? :) thanks in advance :)

Hello from Russia!
You can also use:
1. Хрю-Хрю (khru-khru) it sounds like a pig voice.
2. Гав-Гав (gav-gav) sounds like a dog bark.

By the way, onomatopoeia is not widely spread in Russian language.

P.S. The word "onomatopoeia" is very special and not used in spoken language.
