sentences with "if"

Why do we use this case here? And this verb? What rule should I use here?

sentences with "if"

Postby Leam_nor » Apr 5th, 15, 12:48

Привет!

I'd like to know if the following sentence is correct:
Я спрошу у ней, если она хочет идти в кино. (I'm going to ask her if she wants to go to the movies)

My doubt is about the connector "если". In English sounds fine but I'm not sure it's the right way to say it in Russian.

Thanks for your help!

We don't use "если" in this case. "если" needs some condition, and here it translates as a particle "ли". So, it is:
Я спросил у нее, не хочет ли она пойти в кино
