Are the two words interchangeable? Or is there a time to say врач instead of доктор? :?

Врач is MD (Medicinæ Doctor) exclusively.
Доктор (like Doctor) is more general.

Hello! I am from Russia. I am living in Nizniy Novgorod. About this topic: As russian I think, Врач is more correct than доктор, because when you are said "Where are you going now?" we answer: "I am going to врач".
Some sentence about a doctor in Russian:
Я иду к врачу - I am going to a doctor
Мне врач сказал - The doctor said me
I heard the word "доктор", but very seldom(

No, you both are wrong, I'm afraid.

Doctor is MD, and Vrach is not? It is nonsense. For your information MD is just a person who graduated from the University as a doctor.

"Doctor" or "Vrach" are just synonyms, they ARE INTERCHANGEABLE!!!!

Дорогие Россияне, бред-то не пишите. Что, врач и доктор не одно и то же? Словарь синонимов вам в помощь!

Дорогая HelenNewman,
Если бы слова ДОКТОР и ВРАЧ были бы синонимы, то нас был лечили в больницах доктора экономических наук, а ассистировали им доктора технических наук. Это НЕ СИНОНИМЫ, Доктор - понятие более широкое.
Врач является доктором (в контексте врача), а вот доктор - далеко не всегда врач.

Доктор and врач are not completely interchangeable. When talking to a doctor you can call him доктор but never врач. Доктор also means a scientific degree, врач only means doctor of medicine.

Actually, доктор and врач has different roots.
Врач is an old russian word, while доктор derives from latin. Доктор means literaly a doctor. And indeed, as noticed above, PhD is a доктор too.
But when you are talking about a doctor of medicine it is usually врач.

И "доктор", и "врач" может обозначать человека, который лечит. Чаще говорят "врач".
Но "доктор" может обозначать и степень в науке. Развернуто звучит как "доктор наук". Например: доктор философии, доктор архитектуры, доктор психологии.
Ориентируйтесь на контекст.
