are the following sentences true and the same? I didnt understand the use of the verb нравится?
1) ты мне нравишься (i like you)
2) мне нравится тебе (i like you)

Only the first sentence is correct:
Ты мне нравишься.
In order to understand how to use the verb "нравиться" you have to think of the literal translation, it means something like "to please somebody".
so when you say Ты нравишься мне
it literally means You please me / You are pleasant for me
Ты is the subject of the sentence, and мне is the indirect object which should go in the dative case.
Мне нравится шоколад. = I like chocolate
(Chocolate pleases me)
