Hello friends,

I am seeing this word
варьщиков
in connection to posts about the television show "Breaking Bad"

In trying to translate, I can not determine what it is. What does it mean?

Thank you for the help!

Hi s3ab,
the correct spelling must be "варщиков", which is the genitive singular of the noun "варщик". This word is quite rare, and it seems I personally have never heard the word before. According to https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%B2%D ... 0%B8%D0%BA, "варщик" has 3 meanings:
  • a person who boils something (vegetables, eggs, mixtures etc.);
  • a chemist doing applied synthesis in limited (not industrial) quantities;
  • a criminal producing drugs in a home-made fashion (illegally and with low-quality equipment).

Due to the fact that the word "варщик" was used discussing 'Breaking Bad', the latter meaning seems the most probable in this context.
