Well,
люкс is something very cool, never used it)
спальный (СВ) - has a state-room with 2 beds
купе - is a class, where you get a compartment with 4 beds (2 double-deck beds)
плацкарт - a wagon without any doors between state-rooms, but the same with the купе. only with additional double-decked beds in every unclosed "купе"
and сидячий - is a train with chairs
the last are the cheapest ones. and better not take сидячий. it's really hard to sleep in there. also, if you don't mind some strange russian people in one compartment with you, imho, плацкарт - is a golden middle.
yes, and sometimes there are name trains (фирменный поезд). usually they are a bit more expensive (same classes), but also more comfortable
but what about the rest of the classes, are they ok? I have to travel from Moscow to Perm.
